Change in selling prices received by domestic producers — inflation upstream of the consumer.
Producer prices lead consumer prices; a hot PPI often shows up in consumer prices a month or two later.
Usual market effect. Hotter-than-forecast inflation usually means higher rates — good for the dollar, bad for stocks.
